ATTENTION POTENTIAL BARNDO / SHOP CUSTOMERS
I chose K&G due to their construction method, what I considered to be a fair price, and acceptable timeline. Weeks out from my start date (and while out of town), I happened to check my email, only to have an email (no phone call) from K&G telling me they will be at my property the morning after the next day. No advanced notice. Nothing. Communication (or the lack thereof), was an ongoing issue with K&G throughout this process. I felt that crew members were pretty good guys. Some were learning on the job, but that's to be expected. The framing had some issues to be corrected - probably because the foreman was almost never on the jobsite to manage the crew or monitor quality control for any potential issues. My build continued for about two weeks, and then NINE DAYS went by with NOBODY at the property - and not one courtesy phone call or email to me to give me a heads up. After I placed multiple calls and was eventually able to get Mandy on the phone to be able to ask her what was going on, her reply to me was: "All I can tell you is, because of Joe Biden". I continued to get the runaround, and a few more days went by until the crew finally showed back up. What I was quoted was going to be approximately a 2-3 week build ended up running closer to 7 weeks. This was only the beginning. Below is a laundry list of almost all of the issues that I had left in my lap FOR ME TO RESOLVE (with my own time and money) due to the shoddy craftsmanship from K&G.
PICS ATTACHED TO SHOW THEIR SHODDY WORK
Metal siding not completely ran up to the roofing metal, leaving gaps needing to be filled. Shoddy craftsmanship on framing the gables - leaving massive holes cut out of the metal exterior siding. Shoddy craftsmanship on framing the eaves - left unfinished and wide open for birds and other animals to nest in. Multiple scratches on the exterior metal siding (too many areas to count). Shoddy craftsmanship on exterior trim work. Extremely shoddily cut exterior metal siding around almost all windows. Multiple heavy scratches on window trim. Metal siding not completely fastened down in some areas. Metal siding not completely ran down to the concrete in some areas. Both of the exterior doors that I purchased were scratched up, and the brickmold was damaged. Sliding glass door was installed upside down (I had to pay my window guy to come out and fix this error). One bedroom window was/is still installed upside down (did not notice until after K&G completed the build and left the site). Cracked / separated plastic on some brand new windows due to their install. 2 new shop windows installed with broken plastic interior handles. One shop window installed with a torn screen - never replaced. Four of six new shop windows purchased from K&G leaked after install. Ridge cap left unfastened - K&G never came to fix, even after multiple conversations with Mandy. Posts supporting gable porch were left unsecured - just resting on top of the ground instead of anchored into the ground. Broken corner off of my concrete slab.
And they left the place completely trashed - which is solely on the foreman - Marcus (the same guy that was rarely on the job), as he was the last man off of the jobsite. Not only did he leave multiple bags of their personal trash behind, he also left behind miscellaneous scrap metal and trim - which I had to spend a half day picking up and disposing of. And be prepared for a few flat tires because there were zillions of dropped screws throughout the property that were also left behind with no attempt to pick up (and that I'm still picking up to this day). I will note that Mike the garage door guy was solid - communicates well, on time, and gets the job done right the first time around. But my overall rating takes into account the rest of the countless headaches that came along with working with K&G, which I absolutely WOULD NOT RECOMMEND, nor do business again. STAY AWAY.
