I want to acknowledge that Southern Utility Trailers has replaced the dump bed on my trailer with a new, upgraded version at no cost. They stood behind their warranty and made things right, which I appreciate.

While I initially had concerns about the quality and construction of the original trailer, I respect a company that takes responsibility and ensures their customers are satisfied. This experience has shown that they are willing to stand behind their products and work with their customers when issues arise.

I would not recommend purchasing a trailer from Southern Utility Trailers.

I spent a significant amount of money on one of their dump trailers and have been extremely dissatisfied with the quality. Despite taking exceptional care of my equipment and using the trailer sparingly, I’ve already had multiple issues. I attempted to resolve these problems directly with Southern Utility Trailers before leaving this review, but the resolution offered was less than satisfactory—they expected me to buy the materials myself, and they would only cover the labor if it was deemed warranty-related.

From the start, I requested 12” centers on the floor pan, but they disregarded my request and gave me 16” centers instead. Additionally, the build quality of the trailer is poor, and the problems are numerous:
• It wasn’t wired to charge the onboard battery from the truck.
• The 7-pin plug on the trailer is so short it won’t even reach the truck’s bumper plug, forcing me to purchase an adapter.
• The metal is shockingly thin—comparable to paper in durability.
• The welds are subpar and look rushed.

I purchased this trailer sight unseen through a trusted dealership, and I don’t blame them for the issues, as Southern Utility Trailers’ overall quality has clearly declined.

Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere for a trailer. This product does not meet professional standards and is not worth the investment.

Thank you for your response, though I must say it only adds to my disappointment. While I appreciate the effort to “maintain a strong reputation,” I find it difficult to see how dismissing my concerns as “user malfunction” accomplishes that goal.

To address your points:
• I am fully aware of how to properly use a dump trailer, and the issues I’ve experienced are not the result of blunt force or improper use. If the trailer can’t handle the basic tasks it was designed for, perhaps your marketing materials should reflect that.
• Claiming to use “higher gauge wall supports than most competitors” is a bold statement, but unfortunately, the actual quality of the materials and welds on my trailer doesn’t support it.
• Regarding the 7-way plug: not all customers have gooseneck setups, and assuming they do is shortsighted. The 7-pin on my trailer wasn’t long enough to even reach a standard bumper plug—something I’ve never encountered with trailers from other manufacturers.

While I appreciate the well wishes, it doesn’t change the fact that this trailer, sight unseen or not, didn’t meet the specifications I requested or the quality I expected. Perhaps instead of dismissing my concerns as a “user malfunction,” more effort could go toward addressing the root issues and improving the product for future customers.
