Stopped into this little spot hoping to get a hearty Southern meal like my Granny used to make—something that sticks to your ribs and warms the soul. The atmosphere is exactly what you’d expect from a small-town country store and eatery: cozy, familiar, and full of friendly folks ready to chat.

I ordered the Hamburger Steak Platter with fried okra, a side salad, and fried pickles. And while my Granny did cross my mind when the food arrived, it was more in the sense of wondering if this is what she’d have been forced to eat had she ever ended up in a nursing home. I opted out of grilled onions on my hamburger steak, but I didn’t realize that meant I’d be served a plain, dry burger patty with nothing to dress it up. When I asked about gravy, I was told the only options were A1 or Heinz 57—bless it.

The fried okra was the usual pre-frozen variety, hard to mess up but nothing special. Same goes for the fried pickles—except I only got four small wedges, and the batter slid right off with the first bite, leaving me with a sad little mushy pickle.

Now, don’t get me wrong—the food wasn’t terrible. If you’re watching your salt intake, keeping an eye on your cholesterol, or just looking for a place to sit and chat about ā€œthis generationā€ over a plate of something bland, this might be just the spot for you. But if you’d rather save yourself $20, just hit the drive-thru and ask for a plain burger patty. You’ll get the same experience for less than half the price.

Food was wonderful. Chef salad was fresh and filling. Cheese burger and fries were tasty. All of the other food looked great and tasted great. Would recommend as a stop off for food. Staff was pleasant. The cookies were also awesome. Speaking of that I think I will go have one to the cookies I brought with us! LOL, I have them hidden from the kids.

I love this place. Great food and variety. I mean everything on the menu is great. We try to eat outside when the weather cooperates. We usually eat here before seeing a movie at the local theater.

One of the best burgers I've ever had. Really! Bacon cheeseburger to be exact. The onion rings were perfectly fried, too. My hubby even liked the fries more than most. Great simple place to stop for lunch after checking out Tallulah Gorge. Service was friendly and helpful. Can't wait to try the flavored coffee we bought too.

We drove by many times and read the reviews of ā€œthe best burger in Georgiaā€. On the way back from Cherokee, Harrah’s Casino we finally stopped in.

We ordered the cheeseburger with bacon. One with onion rings and the other with sweet potato fries.

Burger is so overrated and not much flavor. Bacon was thick and delicious. Onion rings were okay but the sweet potato fries were the best I had ever had!

Once was enough and don’t have plans to go back. Service was slow but friendly kids at work.

Burger and fries were really good. A lot of the stuff in the grocery area were tasty, like the hot sauce. I got some scuppernong cider and made a hard cider with it and some fuji apples, it came out exquisite.

Very friendly place with great service, the food is just bland and not good. Love the old town feel of it. I had the pimento cheese burger with bacon, fries, and shepards pie. Not sure what sheppards pie was before ordering that but it was awful, burger didn’t taste like anything but meat and the fries felt like they were fried at too low of a temperature. Followed that up with a vanilla cone and some cookies. The cookie didn’t disappoint, ice cream was a bit hard.

Quaint, charming and everything you want in Southern hospitality. Prices were so cheap and the food was delicious. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. 2 reasons for 4 stars: it did take awhile for our food to come out to us and secondly I'm from Wisconsin, you gotta have a nacho cheese for chili cheese dogs NOT shredded kraft...chili dogs 101 🤣🤣
