I am from Glennville, Ga. Hurricane Helene came through and Tattnall County suffered a good bit of damage. We were blessed compared to other places. My family was without power for 10 days. On 10/6 a group of awesome guys pulled in from Amicalola EMC. Upon leaving we had power. I just wanted to say, Thank You so very much for all the hard work you are doing. Most importantly please stay safe as you continue to help my community and move to the next. You are the heroes after a storm ❤️

Very upset about the power bills this month. I am not the only one. I understand that we had below freezing temperatures but you would think a billion dollar company could be a little generous and give people a break on their bills. Mine was almost $700 for one dang month. The month before $600. I just can't believe after years of service and always paying my bills and never complaining about outrages or anything, they'd do something to help. The woman I talked to acted like she didn't even care. It's always the rich companies that are the least generous though.

This place is trash lol over charges for power obviously…..
barely a breeze or sprinkle during “no storms” takes 12 hours for power to get back on. During a storm…… God forbid you have children in the winter or are on the “Latino” side of town…..you will wait hours for power restored for a downed limb on a line. Half the time the power trucks during “no storms” are sitting at Wal mart…while the crews are…... “drinking- doing drugs in a hotel” with people without power. Good luck 🍀

Do you want no power for hours? How about no communication with the company while your power is out? You are in luck, this is the electric company for you!! Don’t worry, thunderstorms aren’t the only thing that will knock your electricity out! All it takes is the slightest breeze, and you won’t have power for the rest of the day!

If you are all about paying for the electric company, but enjoy receiving terrible service. Don’t look any further. Welcome to inconsistency!!

Absolutely, and by far, the most unreliable and unstable service I have experienced in all of my life. They're nice people, and we had them in Jasper, very few problems. Since our move to Ellijay, it has just been off the chart. We hold our breath if there a sprinkle or even gentle breeze these days. It's that bad. We have a full-time home office as well, and they have cost us a lot of time and money. Again, nice folks, but something is just way off in the service. UPDATE: Recently (in June of 2021) we have noted that they've had trimmers out, built a new substation (if that's correct term for this structure) a few miles from us on rte. 282. Outages have continued to be more often than we'd like, but since doing this new work, things are again escalating just way beyond what we'd think is normal. It doesn't even need to be at all rainy out. We've experienced outages now on very nice, calm weather days, and with an incredible uptick of flickering to the point where we're getting very concerned for electrical equipment and electronics in the house. This electric company has some serious issues with the county grid, that's for sure. Many of us in the area we're in have generators for this reason. We had to.
*Update, July 5th, 2023. I'm adding a star because the people who make up all the staff at Amicalola EMC all, each one we've interacted with, seem really decent, real people who do seem to care about what they do. Power outages are still frustratingly often, but we do see them working on improving things. My rating and review are not meant as griping or complaining wrongly, but to put that light on an ongoing set of possible issues and such.

Our community has been hit very hard this summer from storms that have caused massive amounts of damage. This does not include the damage that has also occurred during the snowy and icy winters we have had in our beautiful county. Over and over again, I have witnessed EMC linesmen working in not only horrific weather that included pouring down rain, freezing temperatures and scorching heat, but putting their lives on the line performing a very dangerous and under appreciated job all the while we were safe in our homes. As I am writing this, there is a crew within 100 feet of my home repairing a damaged transformer and a broken power pole caused by a tree falling less than three hours ago. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all linesmen who work extremely hard 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year to keep us comfortable in our "spoiled and taken for granted way of life."
