Peyton's Deer Processing - Appling, Georgia

I have been going to Peyton’s for about 12 years, this year brought a Doe to him and just wanted a basic order of whole tenderloin and blackstraps the rest hamburger and I wanted 5 lbs of sausage that he charges extra for, but when you only get roughly 4 1/4 as shown in picture! So if he shorts you sausage what else does he short you on? I brought another to another processor in Harlem and I got about 7lbs extra of meat than I did at Peyton’s, both deer weighed the same amount. Peyton’s will probably never see a deer from me again

For the first 10 years I hunted in Wilkes and Lincoln County I had varying success with several processors. Since Peyton opened his original store at the entrance of Mistletoe State Park 25+ years ago I have been taking deer to Peyton to process and never been disappointed with service or the quality of his processing. EXTREMELY CLEAN operation. I have a trophy hunt scheduled in mid December in Miller County, Georgia and I've already made arrangements to drive across the State to take any deer I kill to Peyton; that is the faith I have in his processing. The deer in the photo is one at Peyton's original location from October 1999. Venison sausage in the photo is Peyton's sausage on our grill during a snow 3 years ago - Peyton runs a quality processing shop. Hope to take him at least one deer in 10 days during a Lincoln County hunt.

Best deer jerky I have had in a long time!!! I am the pickiest person in the world too. I can taste game in meat and I can’t taste any in Peyton’s Jerky!! I don’t know what they did but all I can say is yummm!!! Thank you Peyton’s!!!

I dropped off a buck on Thursday morning, got a call the next evening to pick up my deer. I have never had a processor not hang the deer for a couple of days. I expect that meat to be really gamey. What happened to quality work. And, that was a lot of meat gone to waste.

The place is clean, they're efficient, and they are helpful. $75 for basic processing and more if you want sausages, roasts, stew meat, etc.

Edit: I brought the deer in on the 20th and they called that it's ready on the 28th. I received 18 pouches of ground, 5 lbs sausage links (taste really good), a nice roast, my back straps, tender loins, about 5 packs of cube steaks, and 5 packs of stew meat. The place does have an odor, but that goes with the territory when you're processing 200-300 deer. In fact, as of last night they had the sign out, "WE FULL". It's clean in spite of the unsavory nature of what they do there. I hope to get one or two more this year, if I do it'll be later in the season when they have room for me. They earned my business.

This is a very crooked operation. Peyton called me and told me my deer were ready and I told him I would come get them later that week. When I went to pick them up he told me he got rid of them and that I couldn’t have my money back. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
