My brother and I purchased hanging beef from Burners Beef and it was processed here. I had mine all ground except for the prime steaks. Ribeye tbone and filet. I purchased a quarter which weighed 222.50 hanging. Typical loss of 30 to 40% (using the higher at 40%) I should have ended up with around 133 lbs of meat give or take. I ended up with 62 lbs of ground and about 8 lbs of steak. That’s a loss of around 70%. So I paid over $11 a pound for Unremarkable beef. When I mentioned how lite it was to the guy at Gore’s he just said there’s loss. 🙄. Really? 70%? When I sent an email to Burners he said there’s loss. I’ve never heard of 70% loss from hanging. Never. Got me once. Never again

long time regular customer... now former customer. i showed up at exactly 3;45 the day before the 4th of july, to get the supplies needed for my holiday BBQ and was refused service. closing that early makes it impossible for people with a job to be able to get there. i go to small business' like this one because they are supposed to care about the customer, and this place let me walk out the door empty handed for the 4th of july, even though their doors were open and the open sign was on. ill be trying other local butchers, and i recommend others who have jobs with normal hours do the same.

This is one of the best places to get fresh meat. We make a trip up there at least 1 or 2 times a month and stock up. We have never been disappointed. Meat is cut fresh ,sausauge and hamburger ground fresh right in front of you. Very reasonably priced and the employees are so friendly and polite . If I could I d give them 10 stars.

Ive never purchased meat here. I have had several steer ( my half or quarter) butchered here though. Friendly folks who take pride in their craft. The best yield on finished meat versus slaughter weight over others I have used. The meat is always cut as I have asked. Worth the drive from Harrisonburg!
