Update: February 2025:
Attended my first play at their new venue--certainly more intimate theater so you will almost feel like you're part of a command performance. I really enjoyed "Grand Horizons" with its well written dialogue and the perfect casting. Layers of each character peeled away as more and more was revealed about them, and I gained a deeper understanding of each. My "loyalty" to certain characters kept shifting which made it interesting and just like life and its complexities. Much success in your new home Stage Left!

Update: July 21, 2024 Silent Sky: A Fascinating and Inspiring Play! What a fantastic cast directed to bring out the best of each actor and with timing that brought out the best of the intelligent script. Light humor throughout and even a lovely a cappella hymn!
The true story of 19th-century astronomer Henrietta Leavitt explores a woman’s place in society during a time of immense scientific discoveries, when women’s ideas were dismissed until men claimed credit for them. Social progress, like scientific progress, can be hard to see when one is trapped among earthly complications; Henrietta Leavitt and her female peers believe in both, and their dedication changed the way we understand both the heavens and Earth.

Update: "The Seafarer"
Saw The Seafarer 1/14/24 and I looked at other productions of the play online, but I think SL's casting and the costuming were far better.
This was a Mamet-like play language-wise, but it was appropriate to the hard-drinking and living characters.

Update: RE: "Dead Man's Cell Phone" Opening Night January 13, 2023
Another Four Star experience! A very different sort of production utilizing magical realism, sparse but creatively effective sets, and some very smart writing. Although it might seem to be a bleak topic, there was humor throughout. For ex., picture the finder of the phone who didn't know the owner, so starts to piece together his life by answering his calls, attending his funeral, and meeting his family. Now imagine the finder trying to hide the fact that she didn't really know the deceased so when asked about him, how else could she answer what she thought about him but by saying, "He was quiet. He was a very quiet man." Her delivery was perfect too as we could feel her anxiety at trying not to be found out. The protagonist is such an engagingly sweet character who tries to help everyone she meets and finds herself in awkward situations, especially as she discovers what the deceased's profession was and how by claiming she was his coworker things get very complicated....

Re: The Revolutionists opening night May 19, 2022
Metatheatre at its best. Parts where the fourth wall totally collapses and we're challenged about our stories and who writes them. A celebration of the power of words. Words scrutinized and analyzed by each of the characters, written by the author Olympe at her desk, scrawled on the walls and floor, and yes, even on the fabric of some costumes.
A revolution in many senses: personal, political, cultural, sexual, revolving and spinning perhaps only to return to its starting point. And since these themes are still relevant today and we are at the crossroads of reevaluating our own ancien regime, this play, although set in another time, frequently utilizes modern expressions so we can't forget the eerie similarities.

Such a witty play with never a dull moment as the rhythmic repartee keeps one totally engaged. What surprised me was that the characters Marie Antoinette and Marat's murderer Charlotte Corday that I initially was unsympathetic towards, (in part due to my preconceptions due to history's presentation of them ), wound up winning me over just as they did with the other characters, so characters and audience member developed together--what thought provoking fun.

My daughter attended SLP camp and had a great time! She later participated in a youth play (Law& Order fairy tail unit) and the production was SO cute! The kids did great. My daughter felt supported by the leadership and there was a lot of laughter and clapping coming from the audience. Highly recommend.
I'm hopeful SLP will come to some of the local schools to promote their theater!

Great theater, with typical seats of limited comfort, yet stage immediate ... not a bad seat in the house...but the play's the thing, right?! Been to the children productions with our grandson... a wonderful time! Then have had two date nights with my wife for thoroughly enjoyable perfomances... the actors are truly great in getting into character and transporting one into the world of the play! Such a fun experience!

A wonderful place for entertainment and education of life skills such as communication, emotional intelligence, teamwork, public speaking, music, and artistic expression. There are a variety of plays throughout the year, something for everyone, but not everything is for everyone.
