Great little state park along the Colorado River. Large paved sites. Boat ramp and easy access to the river for swimming and/or water toys. We enjoyed our stay here.

In good weather this is a great place to camp for the night. Right on the river, and has a beach and boat launch. Clean bathrooms and showers, RV hookups, safe. Warning- it gets very hot here in summer. If you tent camp, be aware that it’s right on the highway so there is road noise.

I loved camping by the Colorado river and eating breakfast with the beautiful view! We got to take our boat out one day, trolling up and down the river was so peaceful. We did leave the night before checkout, due to high winds and the rain forecast.

River island state park was an amazing spot to take a dip, wash up, and even grill up something and enjoy on the many available tables. It was clean, and as you see from the pic, not crowded. Of course it was Wednesday afternoon, but nonetheless we drove right on in, found a spot in the shade and all went for a refreshing dip and unlike other spots, this had much less rocks, however I'd still highly recommend water shoes. The kids got a kick out of the small schools of fish, and my daughter even swore she saw crabs and even a lobster lol. Over all, fantastic spot to camp for the night and launch your boat, jetskis, and other water toys.

Lovely campground snuggled into a cove between rocky hills and with a lovely little bay on the Colorado. Nice and quiet at night despite being right off the highway. Very clean and well kept overall, including bathrooms and showers. Felt safe (as a solo female). Good hiking options too!

This is an awesome hidden gem. Beautiful clean park. Hiking all around it, river in the backside. We spent a week here and loved it.
Quiet during the week, a little crowded started Friday night but all good.

Horrible experience. Our camp neighbors were a nightmare and the rangers refused to helped. I rolled in at 9pm to two tents already in my space and a sassy girl telling me she already checked about the spaces. If you’re already pushing the envelope on space then you should know you’re in the wrong. They blocked our river view AND our direct access to the river. Park staff was useless. Also don’t expect any quiet hours to be enforced- this campsite ain’t about enjoying nature is purely a party spot and you won’t feel very safe there if it’s just you and your kid. You can see in the photo where there tent is in my space and blocking my view/access. I’ve never had such rude neighbors or entitled people at a campground.

Nice park, great hosts! We had an easy to park pull thru. Most sites had water + electric. Nice beach area along the river. We were at the entrance side with fair WiFi, some traffic noise and no Verizon service.
