β›ͺ️ A Truly Beautiful Church & Grounds β›ͺ️

If you only have time to visit one church on St. Simon’s, make it this one (also probably its most famous). The grounds are lush and green with large, ancient oaks providing shade. The intermingled light and shadow gives the church and its surrounding cemetery a truly sacred atmosphere. There are many famous historical persons (the Goulds, etc.) buried here, and the church interior is lovely with beautiful stained glass scenes and a rich local history.

I've walked the grounds several times but this was my first visit inside and a wonderful historian by the name of Deb took the time to walk me through the history of the church and the man who had the calling to rebuild it. As beautiful as the grounds are outside, the interior is truly a sight to behold.

Beautiful location and a must see when visiting St. Simons. My aunt loved the church so much she was remembered here by the family when she parted. The graveyard has many very old head stones. There are many old live oaks in the property making it a great location to take photos and capture the beauty of St Simons.

Can only speak to the church as a tourist attraction, not as a house of worship, but it is an absolutely grogeous, historic gem.

There was a lady there who seemed to be tasked with watching over the church and greeting visitors. She was very friendly and knowledgeable, answering plenty of other visitors' questions about the history of both the congregation and the building.

The cemetary grounds are very peaceful and immaculately-mantained as well. If you enjoy beautiful old churches and stained glass, certainly make this a stop when visiting St. Simons Island. There is no cost to visit, nor do you have to sign up for anything, but there was a donation box.

Picturesque and historical church among the live oaks of St Simons Island. Congregation established 1737. John Wesley served as rector. Surrounded by cemetery with many notable names from the early days of the island. We were there in the morning and did not go inside, as the church does not open until later in the day.

This place is a historical gem! A lot of rich history. It has been visited by 3 US Presidents and the stained glass from Germany is absolutely gorgeous! You won't regret stopping by.

My mothers side of the family, Jean and Alec Alexander, and my mother Margaret Alexander(Mills), attended this church, and has been a part of my life and childhood for a very long time. Such nice people, and interesting history. I come here when I’m visiting my mom on the island and just sit with my thoughts or to talk to loved ones I have lost.
