If you're looking for quick turn parts--LOOK ELSEWHERE. KAD Models is unable to deliver.

Terrible experience twice. We paid for expedited lead times (10 day) and got parts about 3 weeks late, at which part they were obsolete and scrap due to the speed of our engineering development.

Brian tried to make it right, and gave us a $2K discount on our next order. We had a simple machined aluminum part, with no platings, and again asked for a 10-day lead. Parts were kicked off Aug 10th. We're at September 9th with no tracking number and no responses after ~8 attempts to reach them.

Strongly recommend against using this machine shop.

I'm an Engineer living in Alameda. I needed a CNC Part made from Stainless Steel. I called KAD Models & Prototypes, Chris answered the first time I called, I told him about the part I needed, and he gave me an Email address so I could send in my part drawing.

By the end of the same day I had a quote for about the cost I expected with a 1 week lead time. A couple days later, I got an email saying the part was ready.

I stopped by the KAD Shop on Clement that afternoon where I was greeted in a professional and friendly manner. Chris handed me the part which was exactly per drawing specification, I paid for it, and it was a done deal.

KAD handled my business flawlessly and will call them next time I need a custom part.

Bummed to write this review but never have had worse customer support from a company. I paid just under 500 for 4 small machined wood parts back in August and straight up never received them and have had ZERO explanation and no refund. I have no clue what happened to my job and no clue where things fell apart in communication. Things were great while quoting but then the delivery date came and went with no details or shipping info. I am copied on messages from employees trying to help resolve the issue but the owner, Brian, is not responding to any of them. I have stayed very professional in my correspondence, and ultimately just want the parts I paid for - confused how we ended up here.

I am now going to have to try and fight this with my credit card company as I'm not willing to walk away from 500 with no explanation. Recommend using a different vendor.

These guys changed my life. I'm a sailor and had a catastrophic failure with my boat motor and needed a replacement part ASAP... Not the typical client.

As an industrial designer by training my jaw hit the floor when I saw their manufacturing capability. This was the most comprehensive CAD fabrication workshop I've ever seen- might have even seen a 9 axis laser mill in the corner. 😉

The team seemed calm and competent, and yes, they custom milled for me the part I needed for free 🙏 Massive gratitude!
