My previous processor closed regrettably. Had been a very reliable affordable, reputable processor. So I dropped off a deer for processing at Paynes to try them and when I picked it up I was informed it had shoulder damage from being shot in the shoulder? I told them they had the wrong deer then that mine was cleanly shot straight through both lungs well behind the shoulders and I verified with pictures of the lung cavity when I cleaned it showing the arrow had passed cleanly through both rib cages well behind any shoulder areas. He asked me “if I was calling him a liar” which was a bit surprising but I replied if your keeping meat that I am paying for and claiming it was damaged meat then yes I am calling you a liar. I had pictures of the deer where it expired very clearly showing the entry wound unfortunately several inches behind the shoulder due to it not being placed where I wanted but it passed through both lungs very clearly well behind the shoulders. The pictures verified this. No attempt was made to rectify the issue nor was any reason given besides “it had shoulder damage” no description of the damage that was documented as “shot in the shoulder” which it clearly wasn’t. I am confident that since they sell their own summer sausages and meat products there that they are unfortunately most likely skimming meat from each job. I’m guessing they clean out all the rib meat and keep that instead of putting it in the customers ground as well. I would not recommend Paynes for your processing there are other places that are reputable and cost the same or less. Extremely disappointed in the treatment I received as a paying customer.

unclean, unprofessional. this place is a joke , he mixes meat when he says he doesn't , he is skimming meat from everyone makes it into sausage and sell for his self. he has a whole cooler and refrigerator full of sausage and meat that he has made to sell.

We were on our way home from hunting & 3 hrs away we called 3 places and they had waiting list for January! we needed someone today. We contacted Paynes and they had us bring in our quartered buck. Got to sample their deer sausage while we were there, which is good & spicy. Staff is very friendly.

Dan does a real good job processing deer and makes some of the best summer sawseg and jurkey if you need your Buck caped Dan's is the place to go your going to get a nice clean cape
