Update to first review.

It has neen a year and we are having trouble eating the remaining meat.

It has been pretty bad all the way around. The fat, grizzle and the taste wasn't anything to write home about. I kept hoping.

A very large percentage was made into dog food. Not much else to do with it. The amount of hamburger was so far over what we expected. As i said before we did not get anywhere near what we asked for.

Original review: We have bought through Wilcox packing plant in the past and the new owners are no where near the last onwers. The order was not what we asked for and the meat is almost half fat.

We were told they were trying something different as a “test case” for prime beef finished in a feed lot to make them bigger. That is not what I asked for or wanted. Especially if the meat is to be very fatty and greasy.

In this case larger was not better. Being on a budget this was a huge cost for us and not what we wanted or expected especially when we were told there would be about 60 pounds of ground beef and we received 170 lbs. Asked for as many steaks as possible, cut at ¾”, recieved very few and cut at 1".

We bought this with the intent of sharing it with a few others. Those that were going to help us with the cost backed out when they would be buying only ground beef and maybe a steak or two at a very high price. This is some pretty expensive greasy hamburger.

We buy for the steaks as we use very little ground beef. At this point I think we are pretty much stuck with a large amount of ground beef and a few huge steaks with large amounts of fat.

Rafter M gave us options that would have yielded half as much meat, adding a few steaks and actually bring the cost of the meat up per pound. Ground beef is a much less expensive cut of meat especially fatty ground beef.

One of our partners was able to take a small amount of ground beef but we had to part with couple of the few steaks we received.

The flavor is okay, but the fat is issue.

In the future we will buy directly from the rancher and possibly have Rafter M cut it if we actually get what we order.

Picture is the fat from two pounds of ground beef, the tomato paste can is for scale.

I wish I had read the reviews before I did business with these crooks. Mainly Michael the main owner who is not to be trusted. For all those raving about their pork they don't even cure their customers pork they get it done from an outside source. Took my steer to be processed and not only got back a very low grade of beef for my corn-fed beef but also it was hundreds of pounds short. Do not trust these people! Read all of the one and two star reviews those are the true story of the new owners. Oh yes and one last thing they say oh we can't find your records anywhere please call us and we can resolve this well they don't resolve it I tried Michael just says well there's nothing I can do for you

Dropped off our first of many hogs at Rafter M this afternoon, and we couldn’t be more impressed! The staff was incredibly professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. They even took the time to give me a tour of the facility, and I was blown away by how clean and well-run everything is. Looking forward to a long-standing relationship with Rafter M and will update once we pick up our cuts!

Update to my review. Funny how life is, people like Michael don't see how they prove someone's point. He responded to my review with lies my name is Ryan and this is a legitimate review. Michael is a liar and not to be all you need to do is read the other reviews like I suggested in my first review. that guy must have a lot of aliases LOL

My husband and I had 2 hogs processed through here. The first one was amazing. The flavor was great, there was so much meat that came from the first hog. We had a second hog processed and this hog was bigger. The person that was raising it for us kept it longer so that it would continue to grow. Once we received the processed meat, it seemed like we didn't have very much, no where near what we had last time. Some of the meat looked freezer burnt and had a rancid flavor, such as the bacon. And I'm not sure if our pig was disabled, but we only received one rack of ribs. I was very disappointed the second time around as the first time was amazing. I won't recommend this place nor will I take anything there again. I'm not sure if they missed a complete box of our meat or if they are keeping some of it. Very disappointed.

WARNING! This is no longer Wilcox Meat Packing. New Owners! It is now Rafter M Meats. I wish I had read the newest reviews before I did business with these people! Definitely did not listen to or follow the success of the Harris family when it was Wilcox Meat Packing. One of the owners Michael is an egomaniac and acts like a spoiled little rich kid. He will not do anything to make a customer happy. The meat I got back was not Prime and I raised Prime Beef it also was short about 400 lb of my normal yield for almost two decades of bringing beef to this place. He lied to me on several occasions. I recommend Cattlemens if you're going to bring any more beef in to be processed in Willcox area. Also, you might want to look into Wilcox country bacon and feed just off Houghton Road near Tucson. If I could give a zero to Rafter M Meats I would.
