DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR TEENS. I started attending South side when I was in 2nd or third grade until I was a freshman. I'm now a senior but I've had it on my heart to write about my experience to keep other youth from going through what I did. when I was in elementary I loved it I learned about God and his love for me, but there was nothing deeper to it, which is fine for little kids but as I reached middle school I started going through issues in my life the middleschool youth pastor at the time was Eric. He was the only reason I stayed, he was very kind and made it his mission to connect with the kids. I will say he handled some situations inappropriately, and he got so busy he started to not connect with the kids as much, or maybe it was just me. I started going through some really hard things and tried to reach out yet I wasn't helped, it felt like the church was turning its back on me, and that made me feel like God was turning his back on me as well. This made me walk away from Christianity. I had also been serving in wamba land for 3 years and switched to up street when i was old enough I served with 4th grade girls. i pray I made a difference in their lives but i know my kids loved me as their leader, they told me every week. At this point I was in highschool and had a new preacher/pastor. He was not it. For one the sermons were so watered down, they didnt really teach anything. I also asked the pastor to sit down with me one day as Id been struggling with wanting to date girls (Im a girl) and he gave me nothing. I asked him to keep it between us and he did not. He told the leader of upstreet and they handled it in a disgustingly inappropriately. They pulled me out of teaching small group and basically said that I cannot serve anymore because I was having "impure thoughts" even though I wasnt dating a girl, I NEVER would mention anything like that in my small group because it was something I was struggling with. After that I fell deeper in a depression I was already struggling with. I tried to reachout a few months later because I was struggling with a drug issue and at that point the youth pastor wouldnt even talk to me and I felt uncomfortable reaching out to my smallgroup leader because she seemed very judgmental as i had asked her some things before that. Lastly, the members in my smallgroup that i had known for an upward of 6 years turned their back on me because i had "gotten angry at the world" which i agree but it was because i was going through things. No one helped me. There were obvious signs I was really struggling, and my youth pastor, small group leader, or friends there even tried to help me. All in all my experience with Southside was horrendous. I wouldn't recommend southside to anyone but especially teenagers.

The worship service is great...the music is awesome.. the singing is amazing.the people are friendly and terrific.

I have a good friend that works there so my family decided to join. My husband has been a believer his whole life, but I wasn't raised like that and I am new to the way church is here.
They are great with the kids, amazing actually. They do ask for donations, which is fine since they all go to helping those in need and the community. We supported every time, we also were more than happy to set up automatic monthly donation to show our appreciation and support. We were very satisfied until I asked them for something (it wasn't even for me) they ignored for months, I had to keep trying to find ways to reach out to someone. Well i heard back from them via my friend. The answer basically was "go somewhere else". Nobody tried to talk with me.
They call you "family" as long as you keep giving, but not even the courtesy of a phone call when you reach out for help. They didn't have to help, that wouldn't have been an issue, but could have talked to me at least.
Very disappointed and now I question many things they said.

We came here almost every Sunday for the services. I was in Transit which was a sermon themed for high schoolers with some games at the start and a lesson from the Bible to be taught at the end. They did talk about romance once but I didn't focus on it. In the high school service, they rounded up the kids and talked about a lesson then sent them into small groups with leaders depending on grade. I was in the 9th grade group and are small group leader, Vernon, was very kind and had alot of stories to tell. Sometimes, our group had an assistance who was nice, it was always the same guy too. I forgot his name however. Then I moved from Transit into the adult service but I was never fond of some of the lessons because they made me feel gloomy, but they did have some nice lessons like for Easter or Christmas, and sometimes, I would donate some money in a small metal box on the wall before entering. Later, my dad found out about an afternoon service called Inside Out. My brother and I went there on most Sundays and met our small group leaders: Clint, Josh, and Brian. They're very nice people. Inside Out is a pretty great service for high schoolers and have events like Summer Games and a Halloween party where you dress up as a non-spooky character. They also served food after the service as well. Sometimes, we would travel somewhere to help out someone with their lawn. Overall, I had a great experience with this place, I didn’t really fit in with the high schoolers, but I did feel that the Lord was in this place. I would recommend coming here!

Good times! Love it. Wish there were more live services as opposed to the movie screen. Special guest, Andy should visiting person more often. We still love them though!

This placed has changed my life in the best ways! It's not the stereo typical "church" but better! The messages are usually from Andy Stanley who breaks down the Bible in a modern "how do I apply this stuff to my life " way. The people, music, children services, and sense of community is exceptional! Nonbelievers, welcomed as well.
