I needed an eight-foot aluminum square tube. I was going to buy that at Home Depot and it would cost me around $41, but since my wife and I were in the San Jose area, we decided to swing by this place to see what their prices were. I've seen great reviews of this place before, but never had a chance to visit. I was not disappointed. The place is packed with a great selection and the prices are unbelievable. I was able to get the same tube for under $5 (base price was under $6, plus they gave me a veteran discount). I'm about to get into welding, as a hobby, will definitely shop here. What a fantastic gem of a place.

I went in to get some materials to make a window box for my wife. I’ve been there before and I had seen some prefabricated very ornate garden gate and fence wrought iron pieces. So I was hoping I could find something to incorporate into my project. And I did with Max’s help. Max showed me some cold rolled steel stock the size I was looking for and wrote up the order for the lengths I needed. They even made some cuts in the back so I could transport the 12 foot lengths in my truck safely. This place has got any and everything you could imagine in the way of steel. Every time I go there I walk around and browse all the racks and bins with metal parts for stuff I can’t even imagine. It’s just so interesting to me. I’m like a kid in a candy shop! (cliché intended). They even have a large selection of metal working tools. And it’s all good quality!

My husband and I visited this store today, and I was pleasantly surprised by how impressive it was – the staff was knowledgeable, the store was clean, and the overall atmosphere was highly organized. I wasn’t expecting such a polished and well-run environment for a metal store.

Very friendly to hobbyists like me - prices are like 1/50th those at Home Depot. They have nice small sizes precut in the retail section (and of course the 19 footers and other big stuff in the warehouse) for folks who need small sizes and small quantities. You can get a basket or a shopping cart and walk around like a grocery store.

The prices on remnants and even the small sizes are very good - a piece of 3" flatbar I saw at home depot for $61 was about $2 here, and their artists corner has lots of random small cutoffs which are perfect for welding practice and the prices for artists corner are almost the same as scrap metal prices.

This place is relaxed and very welcoming to beginners and experts. If you have an idea for making something it helps to just come in and think through your ideas with actual metal. The remnant bins are super cheap. They also have premade pieces that you can assemble to make your own pulley systems, hooks, straps etc....a tool makers dreamland.

They are a great metal supplier my only problem is that when I put in an order for delivery they told me they couldn't deliver unless we had a fork lift to unload even tho I only ordered 14 sticks of square stock that could be easily unloaded by hand at my shop by my crew. No where online do they say that delivery requires a forklift.
