Saw Elf with the kids and really enjoyed the old time feel of the theater and the murals on the walls. The theater has a history of flooding as many places by the river do. Therefore it is not in perfect condition. Nostalgic and some history which is interesting but could be explained better. Definitely cold during the winter. Bring a jacket, hat, gloves, and bring a blanket for your legs. They also have shared blankets too which was nice but they rand out quick. Fortunately we got there early and were warm enough.Think Christmas in the park with no wind😊

Despite rumors of the place being closed, there are active events scheduled throughout the summer of 2023. I'll be there for the July 22nd Music Festival. (Bands and Brews and BBQs)

We have such great memories of special events in this place, and we look forward to being at some of the upcoming ones.

Very Homey, country atmosphere. I love the warm lap blankets. Refreshments are good. Prices are reasonable. Pay attention to the show dates, because much of the time they aren't open. The Rio Cafe, behind the theater, is a great place for a casual lunch or dinner. Eating on the deck is very nice.

This review is actually for the cafe. I've been here a few times for breakfast and lunch and it's delicious. First of all, the food is cooked on a one-of-a-kind car griddle. They put a griddle in the frame of an old classic car that has flames painted on the side of it. The chef is super nice also. We went two days in a row and he remembered us and greeted us with "welcome back you guys!". The menu has something on it for everyone. I'm amazed at what he can cook up on that griddle. They also have really good coffee and serve almond milk! Definitely recommend if you're in the Monte Rio area.

I went here with my dad and brother as a late father's day gift and we had such a great time it was cheap and comfortable and I'm definitely coming back!

How to describe this place? If you go for the coziness of community living, the funkiness of small-town characters, the historical aspect of a quonset hut, then this is a 5-star place. If you're expecting to see a movie (or play) in a surround sound theatre, with plush, electrically-operated seats, then you may pass on this (although, the blankets hanging by the door are a nice touch so you don't freeze your tush in the winter), then you might downgrade it to 1-star. I'm more of the former category, but so as not to give a false impression, I settled for 3 stars.
