Waiting room is closed. If you're getting off the 1am southbound train and have to wait until 8am for the bus... Well, I don't know what to tell you. The bench outside is lit and covered, at least. Make the best of it, the bar across the street is open until 2.

Station was unattended but was open, well-heated and lit, and had a working bathroom and a payphone. Even had a nice selection of magazines to read. Only problems were some water on the floor of the loo, no wifi or T-Mobile service inside, and no answer when I used the free dial-a-prayer service. Stepping outside gave me enough cellphone service to get email.

Two policemen checked in to make sure all was well.

Hats off to whoever keeps this place running.

I'm from Sacramento & have an apartment in Dunsmuir ; I use Amtrack almost monthly. Train is usually late going south. The station does attract homeless so the bathrooms are now usually closed as well as lobby so it's the bench out side. It's a safe community just many younger poor they have to be some where.

The station has a plaque dated 2016 which honors three cleaning workers. I don't think the station has been cleaned since that plaque was set up.

Bodily fluids on the lobby walls and heroin paraphernalia strewn across the floor of the thoroughly demolished husk of a restroom. I won't be letting any friends or family wait for a train here in the foreseeable future.
