Great service and genuine good people,

Recently had my transmission rebuilt in Colorado. After arriving here in Tahoe I encountered an issue and my Yukon would not shift properly at all. Bill and Brittany took great care of us! We had a coolant issue on a camping trip in Tahoe. I called the shop and they looked at it and diagnosed the issue right away. We were in a time crunch to get our SUV back before we had to checkout of our campground. They rushed over a part from Ford and had us on our way the next day. It was a pleasure doing business with them and highly recommend them for anyone in need of honest and prompt auto service.

We were in Tahoe City from out of state for a week. Our second day there, the transmission light in our Honda Pilot came on. We called FHP Automotive and chatted with Bill on the phone. He explained that he'd seen many Honda Pilots with transmission lights come on erroneously over the years and agreed to take a look at ours. After having the vehicle towed to FHP Automotive, Bill conducted some research and found a known issue with our model involving the gear shift getting dirty and sticking. Bill took apart the gear shift buttons, cleaned it up, and returned the car to us without charging us anything. Exceptionally amazing customer service and outstanding honesty.

We drove in from out of state and had some car trouble and took our car to here and we’re blown away with the service and just human experience that you don’t often get! They diagnosed our problem and gave us the best possible option to get us on our way in a very timely manner even though it was a busy holiday weekend. I have a 2018 Honda Pilot. On my trip from the bay area to Tahoe, I got a warning light saying my transmission fluid was too hot. This happened on a Friday when I didn't get to Tahoe until after closing and F.H.P. was one of the only places open on the weekend.

I drove my Pilot over to see if they could work on it. The owner was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He didn't have time to work on it that day, but said he's seen a lot of Honda owners come in with the same transmission warning message.

He was the most important thing a mechanic can be: honest. We chatted for 5-10 minutes. He told me he suspected the problem was with faulty Honda transmission sensors possibly having a problem with the heat (it was 95° on the drive up) and/or altitude change.

He didn't think a diagnostic would help, since the warning light wasn't currently on, and he didn't want to charge me $189 for the test. He advised me to drive home normally, stopping if the warning appeared again (he didn't think it would, and it didn't). And, to schedule an appointment with my regular mechanic if it happened anymore or I had any further concerns.

Just a great, smart, honest guy. I would absolutely recommend him to any out of towner who has any car trouble in Tahoe. (I assume the locals already know.🙂)
