I was working on a 100 year old dentist chair and accidentally broke the post that attaches the arm rest. It's threaded on both ends and has a bit in the middle that stops it from spinning. Both threads were non-standard pitch so it would be impossible to just buy a bolt and jury rig it to work. I searched around Tracy for a machinist who could turn me replacement and I found N.Q. Engineering. Dan Quigg took a look at the broken part, did a quick sketch from a few measurements, and a few days later, I had a perfect replacement post. Sadly, while disassembling the good armrest to figure out how to reassemble the broken one, I thrashed the thread on the other post to a point where it was unsalvageable. I just went back to N.Q. and Dan was able to bring up the file he had already created and make me a second post!

Everyone I communicated with at N.Q. was wonderful. They were knowledgeable, friendly, and simply a joy to work with. I highly recommend them for any custom or production machine work. I was so satisfied, I made sure to take a stack of business cards with me to give to all my maker friends who need the occasional weird metal part.

N.Q. Engineering is a family run business that does quality work. I first worked with Noel Quigg, founder of N.Q. Engineering, Inc. in the early 1990's, when I was an engineer at The Clorox Company. We were building bleach fillers on a fast timeline and Noel produced quality filler parts, on schedule, that are still in service today. Over the years I have watched Noel's son, Dan, grow into a fine designer and machinist. More recently I worked with Dan to design, machine and assemble an invention of my son's. Dan was so instrumental in the design phase that he is listed on the patent as an inventor. In fact the patent drawings were also drawn by him. Working with Dan was truly a pleasure because his expertise in machining made him an invaluable resource for designing parts that could be machined and assembled with the least amount of effort.
