I work at SLAC and have ordered from R.E. Borrmann Steel a handful of times in the last 15 years but I always place my orders over the phone. Today I purchased some steel for a home project and decided to swing by their shop. I briefly explained my project to the team at Borrmann Steel and they went out of their way to be helpful. My project was to fabricate an old mining cart and turn it into a coffee table. They showed me some small antique tracks that they had in the back of their shop and offered to sell it to me at a great price. It was perfect for my project! They made that offer to me when I was already planning to buy a more expensive I-beam.

This shop has a refreshing old school style that is not common in today's world.

Their team is hardworking, honest, and sells their material at a fair price.

I plan to continue using R.E. Bormann Steel.

Incredibly helpful and friendly staff whether novice or pro.

I was pleasantly surprised to find they had gone above and beyond in finding where I missed one material which they did not have while I was browsing around. I feel that is one of those indicators which shows a lot about how a business conducts a variety aspects in the relationships they maintain with their clients.

There also seems to be a significant array of product available 👍🏼🤘🏼

This is a huge steel supply company and does not sell short lengths of rod and tubing. That said, they are very helpful and will sell you a single piece of steel if that's what you need. They also will cut to length and shear to size for a fee. I've done a number of small projects over the years and they have always been a great resource.

If you need structural steel this is the place. You will need to call your order in. Much of what they carry is listen on there website, but they do have more if you ask. The sales folks I have dealt with have been very friendly and helpful and don't get hung up over the terminology of steel shapes. They will deliver for a fee or you can pick your order up. To pickup your order drive in the gate to the right of there warehouse and follow the signs for will call pickup.

They have every shape and size piece of new steel you could be looking for. The guys in the shop are great and very helpful and Bill in the office is a pleasure to talk to. Make sure you have a way of getting big pieces home!

A true builder/maker's playground. Warm and helpful staff, happy to show you around and help select stock. Many of the employees have worked there 25+ years. Lots of neat tools on site, including a pantograph steel cutting torch that handles material 50+ feet long by 12+ feet wide and up to 5" thick!!!

Went there to get some fence decoration, they have a lot of stuff! And at reasonable prices, nice and helpful people.

If you are into welding (Even as a hobby, like me), this is a great place to visit.

I'm a home hobbist so it's great that they sell remnants.
They were nice there - caveated that I knew exactly what I wanted.
I hope they don't sell the place to Facebook for the land. There are not a lot of steel vendors around.
